New for Spring!

New purse for spring!

I'll give you a beter idea of what is being made in the near feature.

I have a limited amount of banana fabric and most of the items have already sold to retailers.

There are a few bags left that are not spoken for, so , If you're interested, get your name in the pot early.

The bag will be represented on my Etsy site as a gorilla. Prepaid orders will be reserved for you.

This item is going to be too cute for words!

Sew, Mama, Sew Quesionaire

This little quiz came from Sew, Mama, Sew. Here are my responses:

  • What do you usually sew?
Purses and totes. I used to quilt, but don't have time any more. To me, quilting means hand quilting with tiny stitches, not that machine done stuff.
  • When you shop for fabric, what size cuts do you usually buy? (i.e. If you see something beautiful, but you don’t have a use for it right away, how much do you buy?)
5 to 20 yards
  • Do you buy on impulse or do you go out looking for something you need?
Need? I could go the rest of my life without another piece of fabric and never get all I have sewn, but then there's desire.........................
  • Are you a pre-washer? If you are, do you wash your fabric before you need it, or only when you’re ready to use it?
If the fabric can be washed, it gets, washed.
  • Do you iron it?
Always.
  • How do you sort it? (color, print size, collection, etc.)
Sort it? Once I get it home, I may never see it again for months.
  • Do you have any special folding techniques?
The fabric usually remains in the bag to keep it clean, so it's folded however the salesperson folded it.
  • How do you store your fabric?
In the bags it came in. In a closet, on the dining room table, on the kitchen table, draped across furniture, etc.
  • What tips do you have for building up a well-rounded stash?
Who needs tips? If you love fabric, you buy it.
  • When do you say enough is enough?
Enough? What's that?
  • What are some of your favorite stash-busting projects?
Purses.
  • Do you have a current favorite print in your stash? Let’s see it!
I love them all!
  • What’s your definition of the perfect stash? (Consider sharing a picture or two of your stash & storage, or direct us to a pic on Flickr!)
To have every piece of fabric that I love and to have all the coordinating pieces that go with it.

Ahab, the Magnificent

My dear friend,
Jo Ellen Huskey,
made this purse for me as a bespoke piece.
The work that she did is incredible!

The are beads, bells, and tassels everywhere!
There is an African design on the inside
along with my name.
The designs were designed, digitized,
and embroidered by Jo Ellen.
She also constructed the purse.

I own several of her purses
and never leave home without
one of them.

Her work is magnificent!

Jo Ellen and her designs
can be found at

If you own one of her designs,
you are very lucky, indeed!

Sailing the Carribean

I'm sorry to have been missing for such a long time. I have many projects in the works for your enjoyment and have been away collecting marvelous fabrics and trims.

Our latest adventure was an 8-day cruise on the Norwegian Pearl to the Caribbean. We managed to fit in a few Mardi Gras parades while in New Orleans before and after the cruise. The Rex Krewe parade (the original Mardi Gras krewe) was yesterday, but, unfortunately, work called us home. However, I did pick up some great ideas for Mardi Gras purses that will be available next year!

It's good to be home!

A Peaceful Time for Christmas

It's time to retire from purse making - except for gifts for very special people - until after the holidays. All of my Christmas purses sold out before they were posted to my website. I only made 3 Christmas purses this year. I have 2 new designs in mind for the next Yuletide season.

I have several new designs on the drawing board (uh, that means in my head) for early spring. For now, I'm going to enjoy the holidays. I have lots of new recipes to be tried. I try to make one new thing every few days as I recover my strength. I go back to the doctor next week (Bah Humbug!). Hopefully he will allow me to stay up longer at a time.

Meanwhile, I wish you all a very restful and Merry Christmas!

Grand Opening of Ragg Baggs

Ragg Baggs

Welcome to the Grand Opening of Ragg Baggs' Website!
http://www.raggbaggs.com

Our site officially opened over Labor Day weekend though there is still a problem with adding PayPal buttons.

My husband and I have been in the craft business for over 30 years having spent most of our young married life attending craft shows around the country. Age and the price of gasoline have changed the direction of our business.

Our line is now totally limited to our most popular items - designer purses. Many of these purses are one of a kind. All are strictly limited editions.

We hope that a visit to our site will provide you with just the purse you are looking for, if not, a purse can be designed especially to meet your needs and wishes.

Over the years, we have become gypsies traveling the world to bring you beautiful fabrics, trims, and embellishments. Our travels have resulted in many adventures as you can see in the photo of me on my graceful mount - Jing Chou Ku, meaning Loud Mouth Camel. This lovely beastie carried me to the Ba Da Ling section of the Great Wall of China during a late May snowstorm - the first in many years. This was a trip to indulge in the marvelously patterned silks the country offers.

We look forward to serving you for many years to come!
